Russell Mark

ASCA Performance & Education Advisor

For over 20 years, Russell Mark has worked with the highest performers in swimming. He contributed to the historic success of the last 5 US Olympic Swim Teams through a blend of coaching, data-driven feedback, and technology integration. He has worked directly with Olympic champions like Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel, Nathan Adrian, and Michael Phelps – and has used that experience to help the broader swimming community in best practices for swimming technique and the best culture and environment for performance. 

Currently as ASCA's Performance & Education Advisor, Russell is giving the swim coach community access to everything that he has learned over the years. He is studying age group and club success in order to help coaches bridge the years from age group to elite performance.

Robert Gunter

University of Houston Diving Coach (2015 - Present)

As the Diving Coach for the University of Houston Robert has had enormous success in continuing the tradition of the program.  His athletes have been strong contributors to the University of Houston’s Swimming and Diving teams success in winning seven straight American Conference Championships from 2016 to 2023. In this span Robert was named Conference Coach of the year six times, as his athletes captured numerous conference championships including six three meter champions in seven years.  One of Robert’s athletes has qualified for the NCAA championships in both 2021 and 2022.  

Prior to Robert being the University of Houston coach he worked with the Woodlands Diving Academy from 1999 - 2015.  During this time Robert lead teams to four consecutive Junior National titles, and two Senior National titles.  Included in these titles were numerous individual national champions at both the junior and senior level.  His athletes also captured two gold medals and two silver medals at the Junior World Championships.  Robert has been named Junior Coach of the year three times, and Senior coach of excellence twice.  He was also recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as developmental coach of the year three times.
